Song of the Week

Hey guys! This week’s song is a song that I’ve been addicted to listening to. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been on a serious Sam Smith kick for the past few weeks. His album In the Lonely Hour is a masterpiece and I absolutely love it! My favorite song is “Money On My Mind” and if you haven’t checked it out, after you finish reading this, go to iTunes or YouTube and listen to it. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I have and have a great day!

Product Recommendation: Maybelline “The Buffs” Lipstick

Hey guys! For this week’s product recommendation I wanted to tell you about my new favorite lipstick for fall and in general. It’s from the Maybelline “The Buffs” line and, I know; I’m late on the bandwagon yet again. Anyway, my favorite color from this line, for my fair skin tone, is the color “Blushing Beige”. It’s a peachy-brown toned nude that looks great on my lips because it doesn’t wash me out. The texture is the same creamy formula as the regular Maybelline lipsticks as is the opaque and full pigmentation. This is a great everyday shade and I have been pairing it with my favorite lip gloss of all time: Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in “Pango Peach” (a sheer light peach color with gold glitter). This lip gloss adds shine and brings out the peachy tones in the lipstick. I hope you guys check out this lipstick and have a great week!

Weekly Style Obsession: Franco Sarto “Capsule” Boots

Hey guys…please don’t kill me! I’m so sorry for having been gone for the past few weeks. Work took over my life and the small amount of free time I had went to other commitments. However, I realized since I enjoy sharing my thoughts and style with you, I need to stay committed to it; and that’s what it’s going to be like from now on. Thank you all for being patient and get ready for more fun, creative posts. Anyway, my weekly obsession this week has been my new Franco Sarto “Capsule” booties in Black. I swear that these are the most comfortable and versatile heels I own. They have about a 2 to 2.5 inch heel and the best part is: they don’t slide on slick floors. You know how some floors (like marble and varnished wood) are slippery, and when wearing heels you must proceed with caution, knowing that any second, when the heels of your fabulous, new, bombshell shoes meet the floor, you can end up face-planting and humiliating yourself. Trust me; it’s not pretty. These comfortable and stylish shoes grip the slickest of floors and they don’t give you blisters, no matter how long you wear them. Lastly, these booties make for the most versatile fall shoes, seeing as they can easily be dressed up (with a printed skater or sweater dress and a black leather jacket) or down (with tapered boyfriend or skinny jeans, a plain white V-neck, and a statement necklace). I hope you find these boots as awesome as I do and have a great week! xoxo,

Recipe of the Day: Chicken and Honey-Mustard Pinwheels

Hey guys! So for today’s recipe, I wanted to share something healthy for fall. However, these pinwheels are great for all year round, because they aren’t too heavy (like winter foods) and they aren’t extremely refreshing either (like summer foods). They’re also a great way to use leftover chicken and also make a delicious lunch. I found this recipe in “Giada’s Feel Good Food”, a healthy recipe book written by famous chef Giada de Laurentiis. I absolutely adore this book because it provides me with endless delicious and hardy meals, desserts, and my personal favorite, snacks! I hope all of check out this great book and enjoy this recipe! xoxo,

  • ½ cup (4 oz) mascarpone cheese, at room tempature
  • ¼ cup whole-grain mustard
  • ¼ cup honey
  • Grated zest of 1 large lemon
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 ½ packed cups arugula, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cooked or grilled skinless chicken breast
  • 2 (9 x 12-inch) whole-wheat lavish breads

In a medium bowl, mix together the mascarpone, mustard, honey, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Stir in the chicken and arugula.

Divide the chicken mixture between the breads and spread it over the breads, leaving a ½ inch border. Starting at the longest edge, tightly roll up each bread like a jelly roll. Using a serrated knife, cut each roll into 8 pieces and serve!

Song of the Week

Hey guys! So for this week’s song, I have been head-over-heels for the song “Bang Bang” by British artist Jessie J , featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. I know, I know, some of you might think it’s a “tween pop-song”, but I really think all of these singers have true talent, and have created a great blend of R&B and pop. This track is really upbeat, fun, and an amazing “jam” song! I hope if you haven’t checked out yet, you will and have a great rest of your week! xoxo,

Product Recommendation: Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo

Hey guys! For today’s product recommendation, I wanted to tell you guys about my #1 shampoo. Aussie’s Aussome Volume Shampoo has been working wonders on my short hair ever since I purchased it a few months ago. One of my biggest fears with my hair is having it look deflated and gross. This product has been a true life-saver! It lifts hair at the root to give subtle and lasting volume…and it also smells amazing. It cleans and refreshes hair, leaving it silky soft, like you just came from a salon. This stuff really works and I really hope you all check it out. I hope you all have a great day and stay strong while braving this awkward summer to fall humidity! xoxo,

Weekly Obsession: Longchamp “Le Pliage type “S” Tote

Hey guys! Happy Labor Day! Do people even say that? Anyway, so as you know, on this blog I try to focus on more affordable products to make this the ultimate guide for a girl on a budget…but this week I had to make one exception. I recently re-discovered my old light blue Longchamp small Le Pliage bag in the deepest corners of my closet and started using it almost immediately. I had a few qualms about making this my everyday bag, since as many of you have probably experienced, I tend to carry my entire life around with me, and that requires a giant purse. Frankly, this small purse fits everything I need and forces me to minimize the amount of clutter in my bag. It’s perfect for all year round and, even though it may not fit every trend that comes along, it looks sophisticated, casual, and practical with any ensemble. I hope you all have a great week and don’t forget: no more wearing white! xoxo,

Recipe of the Day: Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

Hey guys! I’m so sorry, I can’t help my obsession…this is another recipe from Chocolate Covered Katie.  This recipe for Cinnamon Roll Pancakes caught my eye and left my jaw hanging open.  You guys seriously need to check out this healthy dessert blog because it’s just so amazing! I hope you enjoy the fun and delicious recipe and have a great Labor Day weekend! xoxo,

Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

  • tightly-packed 1 cup dates
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice

Blend everything together in a small food processor (scraping the sides down occasionally) for a long time untilcompletely smooth. Transfer to a small plastic bag, making sure to get every last bit out. (Make sure all air is out of bag, then close with a rubber band.) Cut just the very edge off one corner of the bag. Now set in the fridge and make your pancakes:

  • 1 cup gluten-free flour or spelt or all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp uncut stevia or 3 tbsp pure maple syrup or agave
  • just under level 1 cup milk of choice (increase to 1 cup plus 2 tbsp if using stevia version)
  • 2 tbsp coconut or vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Only if using the gluten-free flour, add 1/4 tsp xanthan gum

Cinnamon Roll Pancakes: Combine all dry ingredients in a small bowl, and stir very well. Whisk together all liquid ingredients in a separate bowl. Pour the dry into wet, and stir to form a batter. (If the batter is too thin, just add a little more flour until you get a pancake-esque batter.) Lightly grease a medium skillet, and place over medium heat. When the pan is hot (see tip below), turn to low and drop one small ladelful into the pan. Immediately take your filling bag and squeeze in a swirl pattern over the pancake. Repeat with other pancakes. Flip pancakes with a spatula when the edges begin to look dry. Allow to cook one minute more, then remove from heat. You can now pipe on any frosting you want. Makes 20-24 pancakes (the size of the ones in the photos). You’ll have a lot of filling left over, but it’s best to make the whole amount for smooth blending. If you have a giant food processor, you might even want to make a double batch.

Song of the Week

Hey guys! For this week’s song, I wanted to let you know about this awesome track called “Arrows” by Fences featuring Macklemore and produced by Ryan Lewis.  For those of you who my not know, Fences, is an indie rock project of Seattle based singer-songwriter Christopher Mansfield.  This song is awesome because it’s so unique and Macklemore’s style fits perfectly with this song.  It changes pace and tune often, so it keeps the song interesting, yet calm. As with any Macklemore and Ryan Lewis song, the lyrics are inspirational, but these ones are about fame and how it changes you. This song is truly awesome and artistic. I hope you enjoy this song and continue to savor your week! xoxo,

Product Recommendation: Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture with SPF 15

Hey guys! For today’s product recommendation I wanted to share a new skincare favorite.  Because of my fair complexion, I sun burn very easily and let me tell you; it’s not fun.  Applying sunscreen over makeup is a hassle and can make you look greasy and causes your makeup to wear off.  That’s why this moisturizer was a life saver.  Every morning, after I wash my face, I would put this on before makeup application.  It became part of my normal routine and I didn’t have to fuss with oily sunscreen.  This product felt lightweight and it left my skin non-greasy looking and protected from the sun.  If I happened to be going to the beach instead of running errands I would mix this with higher SPF sunscreens to increase the protection, but also moisturize and keep my skin matte.  So this product is for my fair skinned girls who burn easily and want to protect their complexion against the harmful rays.  I hope you enjoyed this review and have a wonderful week! xoxo,
